Our Lady Chose an Ordinary Girl

Did you know?
When the Blessed Virgin Mary first appeared to Bernadette Soubirous on February 11, 1858, Bernadette was just fourteen years old. She was the eldest daughter of a family that had fallen into extreme poverty, she suffered from poor health, and her education had been limited. By the standards of the world, there was nothing powerful or influential about her.
And yet, God chose Bernadette.
Her story reminds us that God does not measure us by wealth, education, status, or influence. He looks at the heart—and extraordinary things can begin with one humble "yes."
Take a Moment to Reflect:
Where might God be asking for your simple "yes" today?
Prayer:
St. Bernadette, teach us to listen for God's voice and to respond with humility and trust.
